The 2015 is a powerhouse, there are layers of dark cassis and black cherry fruit welded to tobacco with a supple cola lingering the entire way providing a bold tannin profile. This wine will age gracefully but can be enjoyed over the next few years wonderfully.

2012 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

After some time in the decanter, it displays old school cedar notes, camphor, lavender, and hedonistic jammy blackberry, blueberry, and cassis. The palate is fleshy and opulent. The mid-palate imparts beautifully integrated and soft tannins. The wine finishes with balance and pin point acidity. The 2012 Napa Valley is full bodied with soft tannins and shows a great depth of character.

Deeply saturated with a dark ruby hue. The wine opens with a complex array of cassis, pencil shavings, and violets on the nose. 2014 Phifer Pavitt Date Night Cabernet Sauvignon

The dark brooding stallion of the stable. Muscular and wild. Polished and poised. Aromas of char roasted red meat, dried blackberry, toasted almond, grenadine, sassafras, black tea, hints of caramel, and rolled tobacco. On the palate, cracked black pepper, ripe blackberry, grilled meat, wrapped in thick bands of lavish tannins, undulating waves of rich sweet tobacco, and a rush of bold dark chocolate cherries with hints of espresso bean and vanilla on the seemingly infinite finish. Drink now or cellar through 2037.

2013 Phifer Pavitt Date Night Cabernet Sauvignon

A dense and luscious force of massive complexity, as if it were composed of a multitude of wines all rolled into one. Beautifully brash and delicately nuanced, it opens with an impossibly rich nose. The wine washes across the palate in dense waves of black and purple fruits, black cherries, and succulent cassis, all wrapped in gobs of velvety tannins that turn silky and smooth on the long finish. Yet there is an ancestral minerality at play here that portends the evolution sure to come over the next 15 to 25 years.

Sublime and beautifully structured, with an almost chocolatier derived palate of flavors. Opens with a tantalizing wave of black plums, summer strawberries, toffee, and hints of zesty spices. On the palate, deep red cherry and toasted almonds come wrapped in smooth caramel and creamy chocolate, lightly dusted with dark cocoa accents. The sensually complex mouth-feel arrives in a vibrantly swirling, multi-layered tannic melange, rich in vanilla and roasted marshmallow. The long finish, exquisite balance, and evolutionary qualities of this wine suggest that it should continue to amaze over the next 20 to 25 years.

This vineyard produces amazingly fruity grapes. This provides their wine with a fresh simplicity which is smooth, round and harmonious. The fruit flavors linger on the palate and the wine has tremendous length. Vicarmont Zinfandel is a fruit forward flavorful wine. Careful ageing French oak barrels brings out the rich fruit characteristics.

The 2011 Peacock Vineyard Cabernet can be described in one word...LAYERS. It is very complex and enjoyable. One moment it is ripe red berry, and the next it is an old leather bound library book...a bouquet of violets tossed into fresh hay...cinnamon sticks stapled to a eucalyptus tree...amazing. On the palate the wine is silky smooth but finishes with noticeable and age worthy tannins. Bordeaux meets Napa Cabernet...yin and yang. A wine for all appreciators of wine.

2014 Matthew’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2014 vintage is a little deeper and darker than the 2013. Concentrated aromas of cassis, blueberry, blackberry, graphite, cedar, and spice lay over a rich, full-bodied palate with dark black and blue fruits and hints of sweet oak and cocoa. The tannins are supple and seamlessly integrated and preface a long, silky smooth, yet commanding finish.

2013 Matthew’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon

Deep purple in color, with lush aromas of ripe blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, anise, and crushed flowers. The palate is rich and opulent with loads of juicy black fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, and silky tannins while still maintaining a balanced vibrancy. True to this vineyard, this is fantastically rich, regal, and royal.

2012 Matthew’s Block Cabernet Sauvignon

Powerfully aromatic, you can smell coco powdered cherries as you pour it into a glass. As your nose gets closer, one can sense violets and rose petals. In the core of the aroma one finds red licorice and moist chocolate cake. This wine is intense on the entrance with soft red plum, moderate tannins and mouthwatering acidity. This Cabernet is not as heavy and dense as its Pritchard Hill neighbors, but the approach-ability more than makes up for it.

2014 Sympa Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Inky purple hues precede aromas of cherry, plum, cola and coffee, with hints of forest floor and black licorice and a sense of creamy dulce de leche. Generous and rich flavors follow and linger on the palate, supported by firm, fine-grained tannins.

2013 Sympa Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Taste Note
Generous aromatics with a savory variety of cola, walnut, earth, floral and fennel notes. Robust flavors framed by “grippy” tannins. The tannins stay present on a long, balanced finished. Aaron Pott, our wine-maker, called the tannins on the finish, “enrober,” meaning tannins-in-robes.

Integrated aromas of fig, plum and cherry with notes of sweet pipe tobacco, clove and cedar prepare your palate for flavors of vibrant fruit framed by hints of vanilla and nutmeg.
The wine has a seamless transition from a rich mid-palate with lush tannins to a lengthy finish with persistent flavors including a touch of toast.

The 2010 Sympa Reserve Estate Cabernet Sauvignon's dense purple color precedes aromas of black cherry, pomegranate and cassis. A lush and structured mid palate, with flavors of black plum, currant and notes of toffee and subtle bay leaf. The texture is velvety and weighty with chewy tannins on the lengthy finish. The wine is barrel aged for 22 months in new French Oak barrels.

Aromas of cherry are framed by cedar and a hint of coffee bean. Smooth, velvety texture delivers flavors of blackberry, raspberry and notes of toffee and mocha. The wine is silky on the mid-palate with soft tannins and a delightful lingering finish.

2016 Twisted Roots Old Zinfandel

Light body, light color, and finishes with a little "white" pepper type spice. Unlike a lot of old vine Zinfandels, this is not the typical jammy zinfandel.

This is truly one of the best Zinfandel California has to offer. The grapes were first planted in 1918, thus marking a significant anniversary – 100 years of production from these magical and mysterious old vines. This celebratory and luscious wine is revolutionary as it transports Zinfandel to a whole new level. This wine presents itself as big and fruity on the nose, but on the pallet it has gentle fruit and smooth tannins. Aged in 100% neutral French oak barrels to showcase the depth of flavor these old vines produce.

This vintage is a little lighter in body and color, but with all the big flavor we have come to expect with our "1918" Old Vine Zinfandel. Big expression of very soft and smooth mouth feel, with subtle hints of black pepper on the finish.

2013 Twisted Roots Old Vine Zinfandel These are the vines that started it all for Twisted Roots, planted in 1918, and still alive and thriving today. This wine is full of red fruit, with a nice medium body, and depending on your palate, maybe a little touch of sweetness on the finish. Limited production means ‘first come first serve’!

2015 Twisted Roots Petite Sirah

Very similar to the previous vintage, full body, lots of big Blackberry/Raspberry type fruit. While it is full body, it is not harsh, still very drinkable now. This is very much a food wine, pairs well with big rich dishes.

This is one of the largest bodied wines, a signature characteristic of Petite Sirah, with fruit forward aromas of blackberry and raspberry. While this wine is big and full bodied, it is very enjoyable now and easy to drink, but can be laid down for aging for many years.

This wine is very similar to the 2011 vintage with slightly more body and tannins yet still light for a Cabernet. This represents all the fruit of a Cabernet without the characteristic of a "Napa Style" with hints of cherry and tobacco. Everyone’s favorite!

2011 Twisted Roots Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine features aromas of warm brambleberry, black tea and clove. It presents with dark, luscious fruit-firm tannins and a finish featuring bright cherry notes. This wine was aged in 100% neutral French oak barrels to showcase the fruit. Overall, this is a very smooth finishing Cabernet that does not overwhelm the palate.

2012 Twisted Roots Costamagna Zinfandel

In contrast to their standard “1918” Old Vine Zinfandel, this commemorative Costamagna Zinfandel, is a much lighter, and brighter example of a California Zinfandel. While the vines now grow in the Twisted Roots Estate, Luca Costamagna immigrated to Lodi in 1913. He brought the knowledge of grape growing and the art of making wines from the village of Costamagna, located in the Piedmont region of northwest Italy. It offers brilliantly bright and vibrant fruit up front, with a very slight white pepper spice.
